Default New Member - Over in the UK! 1964 Catalina 389ci

Hi Folks!

Thought I'd join the Max Perf forum, to chat about Pontiacs with fellow enthusiasts.

This is my 1964 2 Door Hard Top Catalina. I don't know a ton about the history of the car. I know it was bought from Steve Barcak of Pontiac Heaven fame, some time around the 2010s

Its a 1964 389ci block with 64 heads (which made getting a 4bbl intake a pain!) - Trans is a TH400 - Rear End is a 9.3" BOP

I'm currently updating the brakes to be discs all round, I got the kit from a US supplier, but it seems a bit cobbled together, so progress is slow (not helped by a lack of garage space and English weather!

Can post more pictures if people are interested!

Welcome! There's a discussion going on right now in 1961-1966 tech section on installing disk brakes on a 1966 car; there are differences from your 1964 but some of the details may be useful. https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com...d.php?t=846836

Thanks Stuart, I'll check it out! I've actually got to the point where I've sourced/made all the bits I need to make the conversion work, its just time (and the weather not being 25deg F) thats holding me back!

Making a youtube video of the entire process, so people can watch all my struggles and solutions!

One thing Im very jealous of is the space you boys in the US have.... A two car garage + workshop is the dream!

Heres a shot of Shonks parked while at home, there is about 1" either side driving it in and out. Needless to say things are a bit tight

I worked hard and was able to buy a reasonable sized (UK!) family house, believe it or not, this is a pretty big garage by UK standards

Welcome to the forum!

Lots of great folks & information here. Love that body style I have a 64 GP that should be cruising this spring.

Thank You Stuart for pointing out the disc brake thread. I am jut about to pull the trigger for a complete kit (not real wheels) from M.P. Brakes for my 66 Cat Conv. I will get over there & do some reading!

God Bless
Bill
