That plug is where the TCS usually was located

Steve, is the switch seen not the TCS? I'm not an auto trans guy so if it isn't the TCS, I have no clue. Just curious.

According to the Service Manual:

MA is the application code for the M38 (TH350) trans for the 350 CID 2 bbl application in the A, F, and X Series.

184 would be the Production Day (I assume Julian coding)
D would indicate the Day Shift for Production
73 would indicate the 1973 Model Year.

At mid year with the redesign of the Emission Control System there were some changes to the Trans Codes. The MA was changed to MC with 2.73 rear gear, ME for the 3.08 rear gear. These were the only rear gear choices available for the 2 bbl 350 with M38 Trans.

So the MA code indicates this was an early build prior to March 15.

The VIN was stamped on the side of the Case at the lower left side, next to the Manual Shaft.

Thanks, there is definitely no vin on this car, it is also a February car. Maybe it is original to the car and the vin just didn’t get stamped. Thanks for your help.

John, I'm guessing that it is a TCS but it is not in the usual spot. I had only seen this a handful of times in the 70s-80s.
There must be some reason that they moved it to the 1-2 accumulator.
This may be a 1973 thing.

This was also on the engine, it’s a bias valve? This car was pretty original for the most part.
