if I want the same size tire front and rear, my go to tire size is 245/60/15. I like the way they fit/look on a 7" wheel, the way they fill the wheel wells, and looking straight on from the front or rear, the width looks appropriate to the size of the car. jmo.

Is this 1985??? There are no modern tires in 245/60-15 or any usable size in 14", 15" or 16". If you are still running BFG Radial TA's, Cooper Cobras, or Kelly Charger HR's, you are 30 years behind the curve. 17" wheels will not get you a tire with enough height to fill the wheel wells.
My '70 GP has 245/45-18 front and 275/40-18 rear. Both are 26.7" tall (245/60-16 is 26.6"). The car rides, handles, and brakes like a dream. Literally, the ride is less harsh and more quiet plus the car can actually handle and brake with reasonable performance. Do yourself a favor, step up to 18" wheels and into the future with contemporary tech tires. You will not regret it.

I'm the polar opposite ;-)... it's not 1985, it's 1969. I run G70x14 on the factory 14x7" wheels. Looks great! rides ... ok. Handles ... ok...ish. But did I mention it looks great? ;-)

Going for the stock look, I am down with that. You know what you have. I ran it for years and years. That being said, modern tires are soooooooooooooooooooo much better than the tires of yore. It is amazing, and I enjoy my car more.
