Default Vintage Sun tach compatiable with LS1

I need some help here. I have 69 Firebird, using TCI Subframe and 04 GTO driveline. I am keeping the car original looking, exterior, wheels, and interior. I have a 1970 one piece (younger reads may not remember the two piece tachometer) that I bought new. Yes, back in 70.

Anyway, it is in a chrome cup for mounting on steering column. I would like to use that tachometer with the LS1 wiring harness. Obviously no points and 8 coils!

Anyone done this or know where to start?

Thanks!

Good question.....I had delt with this myself.

I had a collection of NOS and used Sun instruments/tach for a modern drivetrain project, like a LS1 or LS2.

I found this company online who had what I needed, but sold all of the SUN parts on ebay ($$$$ !!) after I decided to use modern gauges. Try these guys, I think its who I talked with. Might be more online too.

bty...there is a lot of info online about this, seems like many have the same application.
Good luck,
Jeff

The LS tach signal is the same as a 4 cylinder signal. So as long as your old Sun tach had the ability to work with a 4 cylinder engine, you should be fine. You may need a pull-up resister as I did with my Autometer tach. There are details in my build thread. Link in sig.

And if you can't change it to a 4 cylinder setting, the tach output can be adjusted with HPTuners.
