You guys are gonna make me work now.
I'll have Jen resize what I have so they'll fit here and I'll take some more. When I do it I'll start a new topic that way it won't be cluttering this one any more than it already has. My 57's been sitting in my barn for 20 years. I'm not sure a good pic of it is possible. The others are in the open air barn so they aren't a big deal. On a related note,I had the 1700 series loadstar running tonight that has the turret crane on it. The engine sounds pretty healthy mechanically but needs the tune up finished. No knocks or smoke and 40 psi of op at low idle. The crane works also so either way it's not a bad deal. Mike

From here http://tlc.off-road.com/tlc/article/...64200#HD_NM_17 Gas Land Cruiser engines are manufactured by Toyota. The F and 2F engines were also used in Toyota Forlifts. The F engine is supposed to be based on the Chevy 225 I-6 "Cast Iron Wonder" and some of the bottom end of the engine is rumored to be interchangeable. The main differences between the F and the 2F are the 2F's larger bore, the F's 2 compression and 2 oil rings versus the 2F's 2 compression and single oil ring and the fact that the F had two oil paths--through the filter or through the engine compared to the 2F where all oil had to travel through the filter before the engine. |

The Toyotas I've worked on, all were four mains.
For the 6.2 crank question, all have been cast that I've seen. Not sure on the 6.5's. |

Id bet if any 6.2s had steel cranks the military trucks had them.

If any had a forged crank it'd be the military. The 1 ton's I've been into were all cast.
Considering GM supplied all the engines from the same source I'm betting all the cranks were cast. I've also heard that due to the piston gaulding issue the 6.2's had in high heat situations the military has bee dumping the old blocks in favor of the current, improved unit that's on the market currently. I rebuilt the 6.2 in my K5 Blazer. It's a bored 6.2L short block, with 6.5TD heads, a 6.5TD injection pump, non-egr intake, and a much improved cooling system (6.5 water pump, twin t-stat crossover). It also has the Banks Sidewinder turbo and exhaust system on it.
The truck is an 83 K5 Blazer, D60 front, 700-r4, 14 bolt FF rear, 37" swampers, I had it on a scale and it weighs in at 6500 lbs with me in it. My advice: Stay away from the 6.2. The blocks break, even at stock power levels. The cranks break at stock power levels. ALL the heads have cracks in them. They don't make much power without a turbo, and they blow the head gaskets when you put one on. Yeah, I get up to 20 MPG, but that's probably because I had to turn the fuel way down to keep the EGTs under control at WOT. To put it in perspective: My 6.2 makes respectable power, for a 6.2. Not too long ago I was following my dad (stock 97 F250 powerstroke). We both stopped at the bottom of a long hill and then took off. I had the pedal floored and he still quickly pulled away from me and wasn't even trying. The kicker was that he was pulling a car on a trailer and I wasn't towing anything. I'll run this 6.2 until it explodes, then I'll look into a 6BT swap.

Just curious, where did you find the information on putting the HEI in the cruiser engine?
