Could also mount an electric motor inline on the driveshaft for the extra oomph, ultimately making a Pontiac 455 Hybrid! Then do donuts around Toyota Prius's!

just for fun, what kind of HP and torque requirements do you think you would need out of a DC motor to spool a turbo and keep it at like 14 pounds of boost?

im looking for a new project

i myself have thought about an electric motor at lower load to reduced lag on a large turbo. The much, simpler solution for quickly spooling a large turbo, is a little spray. Not suggesting you blow your motor, but if it's built for boost, it's can handle a little juice until you get some boost.

FTR this thread is off topic and I'm not helping----------

About the electric motor, I personally haven't ran the numbers but the initial investment of a motor and battery may exceed the benefits. And I sincerely hope you wanted to do this for economic reasons rather than ecological. If you thought this won't help the environment, I assure you it won't.

Similar idea here, using a motor to boost an engine.

I've put a starter-motor to an elec leaf blower & installed it in the 68 GTO...took it out because the relay would juice the motor over bumps, causing fuel spray all over the Q-JET.. Too scary when the throttle plates are closed//cruisin.

Got the assy (pretty much a 1/2hour bolt-on) sitting for another try after I clear-up some EXH issues, and get 1/4 mile times.

Such item was my "secret weapon" to go from 450HP to 650 HP on-demand, to reach 10.0 ET on that 12.90 combo below compression. Not dead yet, just time-compromized.

this makes at least more sense than putting little chivvy motors in Firebirds.
