To paraphrase something Nunzi said to me years ago: "That looks like washing machine in there"

We had seen this 67 GTO convert with an 04-06 GTO running gear at the Good Guys show in Charlotte last weekend & it was a sweet looking ride also.

In all fairness I did not speak with the owner. Now if he took a low mileage all original #'s matching Ram Air GTO to resto-mod then you may be right. More likely he started with a stripped out shell of a car & built it the way he wanted it, nothing wrong with that IMHO.

I didn't & wish I did now. It was very well done & hopefully we'll see it at another show.

Yup - that would be a shame . Don't mind a new LS powered GTO or G8 but
when I see them in classic GTO's or Firebirds etc. ( no like ) .

Or a 78- on T/A w/ a 403? Or a 301 powered (sorry, NOT a REAL Pontiac anymore than the LSx's are) car?

hmmm 400 give or take HP 25 mpg not a SBC what is wrong with that?

Heck get with the times I am all about a pontiac in a pontiac Hell I spent way more money building a "pontiac based" IA2 with E heads to put in my prostreet TA just so it was a pontiac appearing engine under the hood. In hindsight I could of had just as good results for less with an LS based motor and gotten better gas mileage.

When I finish restoring my 65 Lemans convert It just may get an LS2 because of all the advantages but I will be damned if I put a SBC in it I would rather die.

BUt to some I guess seeing how it is not a "true" GTO I guess that would be okay?

So what...build them the way you want them built for yourself if you can't stand what other people do then buy their car and put it back to the way you want them otherwise just enjoy the hobbie and what it is all about.

Oh I am putting an LS1 in my 37 ford and I have both I guess that would be wrong too?

Yeah I also have a 77 pontiac firebird with a factory olds motor in it so is it still a pontiac?

hmmm

Too much drama on some of these threads. Everyone has the right to build anything anyway they choose. That is the given right we have in life and what we work so hard to be able to do with our hobbies. It is for individuality, pleasure, uniqueness, enjoying and sharing not to please others and how they expect things to be done.

That would be left for the work place LOL

Cheers

Enjoy your cars the way you want to and by the way I really like the way those late GTO seats are sculpted to look better in the car. I tried it once and they were just way too tall and looked funny, this carefull alteration is quite pleasing I may just end up doing that with my convert. Those back seats are a breeze to fit just the center divider needs to be widened for the seats to fit like a glove
