It is sitting 2'' to high right now, he needs to make some adjustments or something he said.

The height was raised, but not by choice. After breaking the dana 60, I built a 9inch for the car. The back brace for the 9 covers the holes in the brackets where I had the coil overs on the dana. When I put the car back on scales and "blocks", I'll adjust the height back to where it was so the ladder bars will be back at the proper angle. I prefer to do this step last when the car is "race ready". I should have enough adjustability left to do it with the shocks, so hopefully I will not have to change the upper mounts. Sucks but that's part of finding the weak link in a car, I guess. However putting the rear tires on is easier, so it has that going for it, lol.

I never would have guessed the dana would be the weak link?

What IS the proper angle for the ladder bars?

John

Was the tube welded?

I think twisting a tube can be done on any diff, not really a particular diff's weak link.

I know people who have spun a tube on 14bolt full floaters, still an extremly strong diff just needs the tubes welded to the centre section.

Tubes were welded all the way around the centersection, the tube ripped away from the rossets and the centersecion broke where the tubes were welded. The tubes spun and pulled out around an 1/8" or so. Just part of racing.

Lance, no harm intended but I keep thinking the weld penetration was the cause of the dana failure. Thoughts??? JD

The rossets started "leaking" after the first trip to the track, more of a I got a bum housing out of a salvage yard then anything else, no biggie.

They show up on the NMRA forum quite often. Just buy a good coil over and not use the coils if your staying with leafs.

Do yourself a favor and weigh them, you'll want to know at some point what they weigh.

Did you decide to narrow the rearend at the same time as the mini-tub? I have Centerline rims that are 8.5" wide with IIRC 5.0" BS; in conjunction with my rearend which is 1.5" narrow than stock. My 29.5"/9.0/15 tires barely and I mean I had to really beat the inner lip of the quarter and cut the crap out of it to get them to fit. They still rubbed a little making shiny areas on the sidewall so I preloaded the springs via extensions on the front of the CE J-bolt bars to stop the contact. Will the new rim "tuck" under? Pictures? JD

I will be narrowing, yes. I want to go to a bearing retainer ( not c-clip eliminators) so narrowing aswell is not that big of deal.

COOL! I can't wait to see how it turns out. I have plans on the "horizon" to swap my car to ladder bars and coil-overs. Keep us posted! JD

Almost have the garage done, the car is coming back in as soon as i find two more friends to help push it in or the weather gets closer to melting (no block heater in the car).

I should have it in by the end of the week. Want to start on the tubs ASAP. Also waiting on autoweldchassis to see about shipping tubs to canada, have to phone them back tomorrow.

I am going to test fit the rims before having the tires mounted to verify they are correct.

Front QA1's are on the way, sliders should be on the way shortly.
