Default 64 Catalina 421 3 speed

Hey guys

There is a Catalina near me that interests me . I don’t know why .... but it looks cool . What do you really think something like this is worth? He is really old so his daughter took some pictures of the original paint for me . The hood is the worst but the daughter says the paint still shines .It was originally 3 speed on the column but the brother (original owner now gone converted to the floor )he claims completely original besides that . He wants 25 grand which seems way high but I have really no idea.

$25,000 for a perfect car, yes. This car isn't perfect....

Yes, you could get a four speed in a Catalina. They started offering them in 1960, and were available through 1968.

The AM-FM radio is pretty unusual, I believe 1964 was the first year for them.

There was a '66 Catalina 2 dr ht 389 factory 4 speed car in the car corral at Norwalk that the fellow wanted $9500 obo for on the window sign. It had rust down low on both quarters behind the rear wheels and low on front fenders behind the wheels; not much though and easily repaired. And a perfect interior. I had to bite my tongue to keep from buying it. IMO that car is about the same value if that much but I would need to see more pictures of the trunk, body, interior, engine bay, etc., etc. The hd trans you see in one of the documents you posted would have been a t85/89 really strong trans.

Ah no I hadn't seen that. Neat car worth more than what I initially said but ?? how much. You can buff that crazing out if the paint is still thick enough but it just comes right back. $25k is too high IMO as others have said. Neat car.

1963 was the 1st year for the B body FM and it has a slightly different dial face than a 1964.

Late to the party here, but I've seen this car in person a few years ago at a Nevada City show. Car is everything it claims to be, but at the time I saw it, the old gentleman (brother of original owner) wanted 49k for the car. I figured it was worth a solid 25k at the time (about 8 years ago). The car is really clean and all original, the paint on the hood being its weak spot. There was and is absolutely zero rust on the car....obviously it was garaged most of its life. A really neat car.
