Here's what the AM/FM monoraul radio looks like. My yellow Bonneville came with an AM radio too. It came with a rear speaker though. I found this radio out of a super-clean '74 Catalina. Had to pay $20 for it, but it works great & is correct for '73.

You should grab that radio out of that '73 Bonneville in your local yard. You may get it for $5 or $10 if they are nice. I wish I had access to that car.

Here's a shot of my dash bezel & radio. Those are actual miles. Quite a car for $1800 & some change!

Here's the left-side. This car has the blower defogger with hi/lo speeds. Evidently the dealer added the little plastic card-holder. Not real sure what they slid in there, but it says "GM", so what the hey..

The rally gauges are my favorite option. It cost me over $40 to make the fuel gauge point where it's pointing -- ridiculous.

Hey, you still got the link to that weird GrandVille auction you were watching?

So these are dash photos of your 73' Bonneville? It is a very nice car too and looks high optioned as well. Do not see many with the rally guages. I do recall seeing a white 73' Bonneville 4dr hdtp a while back on here with the guages, as well as cornering lights.

I just noticed on your "high beam" indicator- that appears to be flush (level with the surrounding area) where mine is out at the same lever as the "rectangle" around the outer part of the gear selector.

In addition to that 73' Bonneville, he also has a 1971 Catalina 4dr sedan. Plain jane though. I think A/C and AM are on the only options. I think that the Bonneville he has only has A/C and FM radio as far as interior options go. Exterior had side moldings and bumper strips. Not sure about bumper guards.

I do not have the link any longer to that black 73' Grand Ville, but I think it had AM radio and power locks, but that was about it. I think it lacked vinyl top as well. No tilt or cruise if I recall.

I did however keep this auction of this green 73' Grand Ville. It also has automatic climate control, power windows and tilt - about the only options I can see as far as the interior goes. I can see too that it lacks cruise and power locks. Unusual color.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIte...ame=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT

I noticed that on it, as well as the dash on the black 73' Grand Ville that I saved a photo of, that they also lack the chrome "ring" around the high beam indicator. I am really wondering what the deal is with that now. I am certain it has never been painted by anyone else. I looked at it closely and it is indeed original. Puzzled.

I know what you mean about the fuel. Mine is down on 1/4 tank and I am sure it will take at least $30.00 tomorrow to fill it up. I am glad my gas guage is now in the working mode again. It takes spells. Sometimes it will not work for weeks at a time (goes well past "F"), other times it is fine.

Not sure if you are interested, but this 73' Grand Ville belongs to someone here on the boards. I think he wanted $1000 for it.

Located in upstate South Carolina if I recall.

Here is the interior of another 73' Grand Ville that belongs to someone on the 71-76 Pontiac site. Like new. I think it was a 1-owner car with 59K actual.

$1800 was a great price for that car of yours. Ironically, I sold my old 72' Buick Electra 225 Custom 4dr for $1800. I paid $1500 for it. It was a 1-owner car, garaged since new. Local car. It was 100+% rust free. I regret selling it.

Here are some photos of it taken back in 2001- even before the driveway was concreted.

72' Electra dash. Loaded- Power windows, power locks, power seat, tilt, A/C, cruise, speed alert, fingertip wiper control (very rare option), vinyl top, cornering lights, bumper gaurds, side moldings, bumper strips, door edge guards.

No power trunk, no automatic A/C, no rear defog/defrost (not unusual for a southern car), no light monitors and no wide rocker moldings.

I think it was odd that these cars did not have door courtesy lights, even as an option, considering the Pontiacs did of the same years.

Here is the rear door panel. They had some nicely designed cloth inserts however. It was patterened like the seat material.

In comparison to our 73' Grand Villes- look at the door panel on the base 73' Buick Electra.

Here are some photos of a 73' Electra Limited. One of my most favorite cars.

That little card holder was for keeping track of the oil changes, like the stickers they put up in the corner of the windshield nowadays. They had special little cards with the dealer's name printed on top, and then they'd fill in the mileage, date, and grade of oil that was put in the engine.

The '71 Catalina my dad had when I was in high school had one of those things, right in the same location.

I like that full gauge package in the dash, no idiot lights there.

You guys are killing me, all this GrandVille talk...My first car when I was 16 was a 1973 GrandVille, it had am/fm, climate control, power windows/seats and of course the 455 w/4bbl. My friends all loved it cause it was big beautiful and fast as hell, lol. Sure could get up and go for a 4500 lb car. I had to retire it when It put me into a ditch at 45mph. The trailing arm decided to take the trailing arm pocket and rip it off the frame, pushing my tires into the wheel wells and spinning me into a ditch. I sold the 455 with only 62k miles on the clock, no smoke or leaks to my shop teacher for...$300, now that I'm 30 and still into Pontiacs, I WANT MY ENGINE!!! lol

Sorry to hear about your Pontiac- sounds like it was a very nice automobile. I remember when I was 16, I had a 72' Cadillac Sedan DeVille. I wish I had it back. I know where it is though. It is in a old salvage yard about 2 miles from here. It has been setting in the same spot since 1992- which was the same year I got it. I had traded it for a 60' Oldsmobile. Crazy, considering I drove the Cadillac out there and had to have the Olds hauled home.

Hey Joel, too bad the Grand Ville isn't saveable, but it does have a lot of cool options. The column may have been changed due to the tilt mechanism getting loose from pulling the tilt lever, and letting the column "bang" up. Over time, if you don't pull the lever, and ease the wheel upward, it causes the 4 bolts in the mechanism to back off, making the column get loose (I have seen them actually come completely apart). You can tighten up 3 of the 4 bolts by dismantling the column down to the tilt area.

Shaffer, what model of 60 Olds did you get? I just found a 60 Olds 98 4 door hardtop for , in the owners words "$500, maybe less". I haven't seen it yet, he works with my wife.

Daver
