Has anyone done an ac conversion on a non ac 68 ? I'm seriousley considering it for mine . If so , who'd you use , did you convert to the factory ac dash pad , where you able to use the stock climate controls ? I did a few searches but didn't really find much . Thanks

Aftermarket AC on an otherwise high quality car is a kiss of death for resale value. That being said converting to a factory system is a big job, especially in a 68 where you need to change the firewall, dash pad and the metal dash frame (for the outer AC vents), unless you are doing a full resto at the same time it doesn't make sense.

If you don't have an emotional attachment for your car its probably easiest and cheapest to sell it an buy an AC car instead, unlike earlier cars AC is very common in 68 and up.

I would think unless it a number 1 or maybe 2 car with all matching number you would be increasing value. I bought my 68 convertible factory ac because after years of driving convertible without I found in the summer month you just roast . If mine was not and ac car I would not think twice to put it in. I'm sure vintage or the other company can't think of name right now have a 68 a body kit that would work great and look just as good. This of course is my opinion only. I know it's not cheap 1000 in parts at least and 500 at least to install if you don't do it yourself . Doug
