Default 1970 Formula 400 4 Speed

I have decided to sell my 1970 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400 - 4 Speed manual transmission. All numbers match. Carousel Red (Orange) with black interior.

Repainted and detailed in 2008. It is an original carousel red (orange) with black interior Formula 400 4 speed. Won best in class (stock) at the 2008 STARS (Southern Trans Am Regionals) Show in Tallahassee Florida. Won best in class at the 2009 American Pontiac Association show in Galveston, Texas. This formula is in very nice driver condition. It runs and operates great, handles well and can proudly be driven or shown. It gets great compliments whenever I take it out. The car is rust free. It has all of its original body panels. It was a Utah and Idaho car most of its life. It was brought to Florida in 2007 where I bought it and brought it to Texas. It is located in Houston Texas where it is always garage kept. The car is all numbers matching including the WT code block, # 12 heads, 9799068 intake, 7040263 carb, exhaust manifolds, transmission, and 12 bolt rear end. The car still has its original 23 amp alternator (professionally rebuilt in 2008), original power steering pump and original radiator. It has a reproduction dual exhaust installed with the correct style cross flow muffler. The car has never been modified. the hood scoops have not been cut and the hood lays flat.

Factory options are:

4 speed manual transmission

Push button AM radio

Console

Soft ray windshield glass

Roof molding

F70X14 white letter tires

Rally II wheels

Variable ratio power steering

Custom trim

Documentation includes PHS (Pontiac Historic Services) documents, owners manual, receipts, etc.

The car has a dash cap and an aftermarket radio currently installed. I do have a correct and very nice AM/FM radio with trim bezel that can go with the car for extra $$.

The car has 15 inch Rally II wheels and 255/60/15 Radial T/A tires installed. I do have a set of 14 inch Rally II's with redline radials that could be included for extra $$, or swapped for the 15's on the car now at the buyers option.

The passenger side front tire does rub the fender when going over large bumps.

Please ask any questions you may have, I will be happy to answer. This car is over 40 years old and like any old car is not perfect. I have described it to the best of my ability. You are encouraged to view it in person if you are a serious buyer.

Thank you for viewing.

Real nice car Bob. Wish I would have bought this car instead of spending the last three years building one.

Open rear. 3.31 I believe? I don't remember off hand, but whatever came standard with a 4 speed as there is no optional axle ratio on PHS.

Asking 28K. That is just my asking price. I understand the economy is bad and will adjust as necessary once I see how the ebay auction goes.

Nice looking Formula.

My 4 speed Formula had 3.55 open rear.
(pretty sure that was the standard ratio, 3.31 was for the automatic)

1970 had the 12 bolt rear end.
(no 3.42 gear)

1971 was the 1st year for the 10 bolt 'corporate' rear end.
