Default 69 firebird

Centerline revolutions 15x10, 5" bs, bfg's 275-60-15, fronts are 15x4, with 205-70-15, I had to flared the rear outer lip. 5.5" bs would have being perfect.

Default My new rim and tire combo

It took some doing, but I finally got my new rim and tire combo installed. They're C5 rims, 17" x 8.5 front, with the backspacing set at 5", and 18" x 9.5 rear, with 5.5" backspacing. Offset both front and rear is 4.5", and clearance appears to be very good, the only issue being the passenger side sway bar at full lock. Tire brand and size are Goodyear F1 GS all around, 245/45-17" front, and 275/40-18" rear. I know the 'Vette haters will jump on me, but I think the rims look good, fit and fill the wheelwells perfectly, and give me a lot of rubber on the road!

I get bashed alot about the 'vette wheels on my 454SS pickup. Not from the 'vette guys, but from the guys who think they were the ugliest factory wheels ever on a 'vette (I never thought so)...

The 'Vette rims look perfect on your SS, as though they were standard equipment.

Default Old School

Here is a pic with Pro Star copies that can be bought through Summit or Jegs. I like them a lot. They balanced out real well and take the tapered seat lug nuts. Fronts are 15x6 with 4" backspacing and I run a tire that's 27" tall. The rears are available in 15x10 with 5.5 or 6.5 backspacing. I originally bought the 15x10 with 5.5 and they work fine, but I had what appeared to be sufficient room to tuck them in further, so I sold the rears and now have the 15x10 with 6.5 backspacing and run a real nice 1/2" spacer also available from Summit that fits the studs nice and tight. THe rear wheel lips are not rolled and the tire is not even close to sticking out past the body. I like the looks and the traction is much better with the big tall Nitto 555R's in the rear. THe rear tire is the 275/60. There is one size bigger, but not sure the side wall will clear and it appears that they have less tread depth than the smaller tire.

Talking 16X8.5" C4 Corvette wheels.....where they really don't belong

My '66 VW Type II 1-ton pickup, needs to get out of 'garage prison' soon and get some use again. Drilled the front rotors and rear drums for the Chevy 5 on 4.75" (5 on 120.65mm) bolt pattern after converting to '71 bus front discs (originally 5 on 112mm) and '70 Type III IRS rear suspension and drums (originally 4 on 130mm). They bolted right up with no wheel spacers after the machine work was done.

Default Tempest project.....hoping to see the light of day again

Wheels both front and rear are 18X9" O.Z. Racing Ultralegerra finished in satin black, 245/40 front and 275/40 rear tires. I will likely go to 245/45s in front next time around to add a little ground clearance and help fill the wheelwells up a bit more. Backspacing is 6.57", the front uses a 1.063" thick spacer/adapter.

Brakes are C6 Z06 14" 6-piston front/13.4" 4-piston rear. Front spindles are ATS AFX forged aluminum with C6 Corvette hubs, rear end is a '71-'72 Buick/Olds 'corporate' 8.5" 10-bolt that is one inch wider overall compared to the stock '64 8.2" BOP rear.

Please pardon the poor-quality pictures, I can't get the car far enough outside of my garage for a decent shot. Ride height should settle out about another inch after all the weight is back in the car, fuel tank is empty, no fluids, no battery, etc.

I love those Pro Stars. Great old school look.

Forget about those guys Tod. Those wheels look like that could have been a factory part on that truck.

The combo consists of 15X8" rear wheels (3-1/4" backspace) with 275/60-15 Firestone Indy 500 tires, and 15X5" front wheels (3-1/8" backspace) with 205/75-15 Kuhmo touring tires.

The rear end is a Ford 9" that has been narrowed 1-13/16" per side, it measures 56-3/8" wide from drum to drum. The stock rear was 60" wide. The rear wheel wells were not cut or rolled to fit the tires, but the inner wheelhouse was hammered a bit at the very rear inside bottom corner for clearance.

The rear springs are new regular-ride coils that have been cut down by 3/4s of a coil to lower the car, Air-Lift airbags (pumped up to 10 psi) are installed in both springs. Front springs are new 1967 Firebird V8 springs, they lower the front without any mods.

I absolutely love this combination

Test fitted TTII'S on the 64 Tempest. 17x8 4.5 bs front 255-40 tire 18 x 10 rear 6" bs 295-35 tire. Fronts a title too wide and touched bottom lip of fender turning. Rears actually fit but had 1/8th to 1/4" clearance max so did not touch sitting but would not be able to drive it. A 275 width tire on the 10" would probably pull the sidewalls in for enough clearance to actually drive it.
