Carb hats
I'm considering a carb hat to be able to run ductwork for cooler air, and to possibly be able to put my factory hood back on. I'm curious since they're primarily used with forced induction, will it flow correctly at atmospheric pressure? Someday I may try forced, but for the foreseeable future it will be used N/A. Appreciate any input.

HERE ARE SOME THINGS TO LOOK FOR:
) Nice radius turn before the air enters the carb air horn. See Pic 2 2) Tapering width is small so the air is not trapped on the sides of the bonnet. see Pic 1 3) A Vortech Blow thru Carb Defuser Bonnet works well off boost and with boost. see pic 3 Bad things to look for and walk away from. a) 90 degree turn downward from the inlet see pic 4 b) Big Diameter inlet but actual air flow path is small see pic 5 Tom V.

Thanks Tom. You were one of the people I was hoping would answer. Sounds like if I buy from the respected names in the business it will be a good product and work as expected. Bad news is it doesn't appear there is as wide a selection for dominator stuff. My throttle body is a dominator style...

For the Dominator type Bonnet, Steve Morris is one of the few making one, as you probably already know. https://www.stevemorrisengines.com/c...r-pro-hat.html
The $350 cost is a bit higher vs the other 4150 style bonnets though. $270 vs Steve Morris $350. $70 but you know that it works. Tom V. https://www.superiorairflow.com/carb...-carb-hat.html

I've used EV bonnets for years and always had good booster signal.. Added a 1" spacer under the hat though...
Kevin @ CSU also has nice hats and stands 110% behind his stuff. Kris.

Your piece is a work of art!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The only change I would make to your design is: With any real boost pressure, the hose clamps that attach the hose to the connecting tube and Bonnet still allow the hose to blow off occasionally, RIGHT WHEN YOU DO NOT WANT IT TO BLOW OFF!!!! So people have been welding on "Marmon Flange" connections to the bonnets. Tom V.

Wow, thanks guys!
Yeah that’s what I did on my old EV bonnet hat.. hat that I bought originally from Robert1320 nutjob.. Is he still in jail ? It’s one of the last items he dealt with before the FBI took him in. I was kicking the idea with this one to make it modular.. that you could bolt/fuse on a custom v-band deal.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
