Default 1974 Grand Am A/C Question

I just bought a 48,000 mile Grand Am. I charged the A/C and it is working. On Bi-Level I have all fan speeds, but on the A/C setting it blows full blast on all fan settings. It is not the hi blower relay as it is blowing like that on all fan settings. I don't think that is the way it is supposed to operate. Any idea what is wrong?

If your temperature switch is all the way left on cooling, that activates maximum a/c which is outside vent closed, full recirculation of cabin air, and high speed blower (regardless of where the blower switch is). This is to cool the cabin down fast if you just jumped into a hot car.

If you move the temperature to the right slightly towards heat, the system should come off maximum a/c, open the outside air vent, and the blower should return to the speed setting on the blower switch.
