Default Rocker arm stud

Broke a pressed in rocker stud on my 389, is there any replacement screw in studs made for it?

If stud oiled, you have a can-O-worms. If solid stud, they are widely available.

Thanks, it is a solid stud. Can't use the screw in's with the hex head I understand. Looking to find a screw in if possible

I would call Butler or SD Performance - either one would be able to line you out.

Screw in is possible, but requires changing all and having heads machined and tapped in order to do it.

If you can get the old one out, why not press (pound) in a new one. If they're not available, pull one out of an old Pontiac head and use it.

I have pressed in studs in my two '64 GTO's with 9770716 heads. Sometimes, when I overrev the engine, one or more pulls out a little. I put a nut on it and pound it back in. I wish, so many times, I'd have put screw-in studs in those heads!

I had one do that when i had my 66. Pounded it back and never did come back out. I wonder if you could and some of that green loctite adhesive and push it back in? It may actually hold.

I mentioned in another post that I had rotated one or more studs with a big breaker bar when I was given the wrong poly lock nuts. Pressed in stuff seems to hold very well.
Probably not if you run huge pressure valve springs.

You can also pin the press in studs. Chevy did that on the hi perf 409 heads.

Did that on a stud on a 350 sbc in a truck, back in the 80's. Worked just fine.

My original 64 GTO heads have Milodon screw in studs (no hex and larger thread diameter on top too). I had the work done many, many years ago and have never regretted that non-stock head modification. Don't plan on ever getting rid of the engine (348 HP) so no worries on that modification). I also installed Mickey Thompson Roller Rockers, (not roller tip in those days).
