Skynard is the closest thing to country music I can tolerate. RIP.

Larry Junstrom was far more famous for being the bass player for .38 Special until 2014. One more of the greats gone...

I've been a fan since the 70's, had all the 8-tracks. I was listening to "Freebird" before it went crazy on the radio.

There was a good documentary about them on our local public education channel.

Some of the members in the end were not ate up with drugs as some of the originals were, it was crazy....

When my ex kicked me out of her house in early 2001, I heard later that her youngest daughter was playing some of my old cassette tapes, and Skynard was one of her favorites. Their mothers side if the family had great God given gifts for music. Imagine a 7 year girl listening to Skynard......crazy

Not all country is the same. Get on U-tube and search Kern River, also Are the good times really over for good. Both. Happen to be Merle Haggard.

I like many types of music...just not all of one type specifically.

I had never heard the names Larry Junstrom or Bob Burn associated with Skynyrd history/legend before.
Also never knew it all got started in 1964.

Always liked .38 Special's music and saw them several times back in the days.

For reference, aside from some classic rock, IE Skynard or CCR. I listen to death metal Not even like Five Finger Death Punch or something, but more like Obituary or Death. So country music or more specifically, country music culture, is just not in my wheel house. I will admit that i would much rather listen to Hank Jr, or haggard than modern country radio stuff. Closer to southern rock to me.

I can occasionally get in the mood for some early rock that country has its roots in ala Johnny Cash or Chuck Berry who I think sometimes billed himself as country and western. Whenever someone tries to convince me Cash is country I point out that he had a drug problem, which is most certainly rock n roll territory
