I made my own aluminum wheel, bought an MSD magnet kit for a few dollars, bought a Chinese Hall-effect sensor for $2, and made a sensor mount- works great. The sensor has amazing sophistication built in- voltage regulation, signal conditioning, Schmidt trigger circuit, etc, With some searching I could probably locate the manufacturer and part number.
