Tom it would be nice to see what your internals are, lots of these 500577 blocks around are your internals balanced.
I built a 400, 500577 block to 430hp ran fine, spun a rod bearing so now its been bored .30 over and I will rebuild as a spare or sell, the more info we can get out on these so called weak engines the better they can be built if done right so let us know what your recipe for the 500577

All good stuff.Forged crank, rods and pistons.Vinolia pistons,Ohio crank, forged rods.Balanced etc.I would not have used it for a race engine. This was built for a totally street engine with parts I had around some from past engines like heads, cam and crank and others I bought because they were a good deal at the time. The engine is now sitting in a 70 GTO T-400 car but with no miles on it yet.Fct is it withstood some pretty good dyno pulls to close to 600HP and lived.Tom

Bring back to the top. This engine is still in the 70 GTO and gets driven a lot.Still no issue with the block many years later.Tom

Fun. I have seen you refer to it this engine. Did not know there was a corresponding thread. Good to know it still lives.

Tom, where is the aluminum engine, now? If you know, or care to say. That deal blew me away reading about it, the first time.
