Thanks for the video!
Gotta' admit, George's winning "burnout" run is fun to watch.

I thought George "chirping" the tires would be a nice way to end the video.

Those covered stands helped with the heat, I'm sure. I don't think I've ever been to a track that had them. Jim

Yes, the covered stands were very nice. I wish our local track in Memphis would take notes on that!

Spectator side stands are quite old and seats have a history...Early years of baseball Nashville had a stadium... when they tore the stadium down (late 50's, early 60's)the owners of BeechBend aquired them. (Free if they took them all iirc) Owners of BeechBend own Music City dragway which they opened around '57 or '58. BeechBend was bought and built sometime after that. Still same family that own both tracks. BeechBend is an awesome piece of property! The place will be packed this weekend for the Holley HotRod reunion(temp forecast looks like mid to high 80's) and in the fall for Goodguys event. The Ford boys have their all Ford World Finals in the fall and weather always seems perfect. (my ford buddies have dragged me up a few times). |

Very cool history! I'm actually headed back up to Beech Bend tomorrow morning. I'm going with my neighbor who has a 64 Chevelle 2dr wagon and a 65 Malibu SS, both drag cars. Bringing the wagon this weekend to race in S/S.
