'68 MT Car of the Year Decal
I recall seeing a fairly original looking Verdoro Green on gold '68 on eBay sometime over the last year that had a square black and white "Motor Trend Car of the Year" decal on the passenger side vent window. Wish I kept a picture because I've never seen that decal before and the listing is not on eBay anymore. Sound familiar to anyone?
Looks like these decals were a thing in years prior. http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=763261 Just curious what the story is with them. Were they put on by dealers or aftermarket?

I don't know the answer but just for giggles, when I first met my wife in '84, she had a '67 Cougar. It had a decal in the rear quarter window, '1967 Motor Trend Car of the Year'.
I always assumed that it was dealer installed from new. I had a '68 GTO at the time and thought it was kinda cool that we had the '67 and '68 cars of the year in the same driveway.

This one is for 1965, was the 1968 decal similar? https://www.ebay.com/i/383695240035?...evt=1&mkcid=28

That's the one! Did the dealer put these on or were they aftermarket?

The decals were part of a promotion kit sent to dealers from Pontiac. The kit included decals to be placed in front door vent windows for new GTOs in dealer inventory along with car topper and magazine display for the condensed Motor Trend magazine featuring the GTO 'Car of the Year' articles. Also a showroom poster was included ( I will have to find that sometime). I had the decals reproduced a while back and used one like the one John showed in post above. The colors have faded and I used that. I need to get them redone in correct colors.

I expect there are a more than a few '68 owners who would love to have one of those decals for their "Car of the Year". (Me, too)

I am going to look in to having the correct color window decals made. The artwork was already done. Hopefully it is just changing the color from when I had the others made. I will let know when available...
