Nevermind, googled it and says it is "Non-Glare Clear".

dld, when did PPG stop offering interior paints?
This link is 5 years old but I'm wondering if they can still mix up good match vinyl paints to their original UCV codes? https://us.ppgrefinish.com/PPG-Refin...ior-No-Problem |

Legendary should have the correct vinyl/color...they did for my Dark Saddle. PUI was quite a bit lighter.

I grab a pic of the seats. They were redone in original material. Definitely noticable mottled vinyl.

Here's what I'm dealing with.
M35 is allegedly 73 Saddle, and it's nowhere close to what I have. I tried M36 which is for a 70 and looked much darker in the book, but they're virtually identical. I sprayed my replacements dash with M35 and it looks like it's out of a later car. Ames basically says I'm SOL.

72projectbird, that's a bummer. My dash was sprayed black years ago. It looks terrible now, peeling in places, and worse in others. I was planning on having it re-done by someone like Just Dashes and counting on them to get the color right. My Console was missing entirely so I bought a used one that I believe came from a '73 Dark Saddle interior (I trusted the Seller but most of the the high priced parts I bought were not much better than junk, the Console was rougher than the one I saw in pix he posted, so in the end, I'd never buy from that outfit again). But if it is a correct '73 and if the Console color is supposed to match the Dash color, I'd agree the M35 looks way more like a later Tan color than '73 Dark Saddle. I'd judge the color of my Console to be the same color as the one I see in the pic cnc posted earlier. Gotta be a solution, I've seen plenty of nicely restored '73 and '75 'birds with the Dark Saddle interior, including some high dollar SD TAs that looked to be pretty correct looking to my eye. |

Yeah it's way lighter than it should be. Sucks cuz I spent almost $75 in paint from Ames and they're not even close. I found a color by SEM that looks close online, so I'm trying that now.

John you may look at a SEM chip book they may have it formulated. also try calling SEM I have on my bright blue . They are very accommodating and can give you a dealer of there product in your area. A suppler with a mixing bank can probably match up buy mixing up the color . Most jobbers will work to get a color match . Just like a body shop does to tint a color for body repair.
Another place to look is the corvette suppliers. Corvette America has there own label of interior color for vinyl for the vettes of all years . I mixed up some base for hard parts and just used a low gloss clear . I have a ton of color left over from jobs at shop |

if you buy color you can tint with other shades to get what you like . A body shop painter can help with that . Most guys will enjoy helping
Of course this goes for any color . just making a example |

Vinyl Pro found the correct formula for SEM Color Coat for my Dark Saddle interior. Might want to try giving them a call.
If they can't find the stock formula, they will custom mix. https://www.vinylpro.com/new-page/

Looks like my original console. The previous owner cut it up. I have a mint tan one, but apparently nobody makes the correct dye/paint. lol

I went through a color match thing on my gto,,,from the factory it has dark saddle dash and the metal part with the heater vents and theyre 2 different paints. The one that goes on the metal is a flat dark saddle with a little texture,,the way the factory did it. The vinyl dash is dark saddle but a little gloss. My door panels are saddle with dark saddle carpet at the bottom. The plastic kick panels are dark saddle, carpet is dark saddle ,seats are saddle, package tray dark saddle. My door panels were in good shape except a little gray at the top from sun exposure so I wanted to color just the top so I needed a very close match. I bought all the paints from different places that were supposed to be 70 GM saddle but they werent close. Legendary recommended Kolor Korrect. I called them and they have the factory formulas to go by. I did my dash and the kick panels which were exact match. The saddle on top of my door panels was about as close as i could expect,,you have to look real close to see any difference. The company was pricey but I got what I wanted.

What a mess. GM certainly liked to play with interior color shades too damn much. lol
It's my first saddle interior car, and we're not off to a good start.

Heres a few pictures of the original interior in my 73 project car for reference. Anybody know how to get tire stains out? The plastic has faded and changed colors over the years so I would be interested in what dyes work to restore the color as well.

I know I'm late to the party but this was an exact match to the dark saddle on my '73 SD survivor car and my 1975 Gramma's car (Esprit). I got it from NPD.
https://www.npdlink.com/product/inte...ray-can/122745 SEM custom mixed C-VP5855 for 71-72 Camaro. I have no idea why they had it primarily listed under a Camaro application which it is wrong for, but it is perfect for the 73 Firebird. I used it for the inside door strap pull caps when I had to replace them on my 75. |
