Pics??? How did the stickers come out?
Btw, I share your aversion to repop. A similar issue is emblems. The white paint on the factory GTO emblems (grille and fender for 69) is Cameo white which is creamy off white while the repops are bright white.

I will be applying them later this morning & will post my results. Still admiring them in their original state. It's funny, I had a lot of NOS parts that I had acquired in the earlier years of this project. I actually felt kinda bad taking some of them out of the packages & installing them. But I quickly got over that feeling when the parts fit & looked like they were supposed too.

I just got a set of nice NOS decals ... no way they are WHITE ... they are noticeable more Ivory than the white sleeve GM sleeve they came in.

Maybe they are discolored from 50 years of shelf life?

Possibly .... but they still have their protective covers on them, and have been in an unopened sleeve for years. I mean if you put them against a dark background, yes they look white ... but compared to a sheet of white paper ... they definitely look Ivory.
Just did a little test ... peeled up some of the protective film, it is decidedly "tan/ivory" colored ... so no real way to tell without applying them first. The back side of the actual letters looks quite a bit whiter than the side that shows through the protective film. The film is a wax paper like product ... and has the brown paper bag tint to it. I think you are right, the letters are probably a whole lot whiter when applied to a vehicle than they look inside their protective film. Someone with more money than me take an NOS sticker and open it up and stick it to something Last edited by dataway; 11-05-2019 at 03:30 AM. |

Going over some earlier threads and noticed the pics hadn't loaded in my prior post, still pondering whether placement was a early-late or plant production thing.
50 years of service has degraded the decals but they're actually still bright white, the location seems to emulate the early sales literature, this is a 11 B Kansas City car. Original early Nov. Kansas City Frank

Here are pictures of two of my original owner cars, still wearing their factory paint and factory stickers.
Flambeau Car is a Pontiac build 03c Verdoro car is a Kansas build October 67 (don't have exact build date with me) Placement is identical

Those top aligned decals mess with my OCD. Black decal on a Verdoro car is interesting.

Are you sure? On the Flambeau car, the O looks to be farther away from the arrowhead. Get out the dial calipers....I'll bet money on it

Looking back at the various pictures above its apparent that the decals were applied depending upon the guy on the line. But I would tend to believe the Motor Trend Car of the Year photo would be the most accurate. You would think that Pontiac would want the best appearing car from the Press Pool in that article.
Then again, the brochure picture for the exhaust tip option kinda blows that theory out of the water... Ragtop, how did the application go with the NOS decals?
