Default Farmbird eats LS6!!!

Haven't seen it mentioned but the Farm bird has a 722 Ram 4 headed 455! Beat that LS 6 in a lighter car! Makes all this LS swapping into classic Pontiac's look like a waste of money.

I was surprised the T/A did so well on the autocross, that's a heavy car to throw around like that, and I thought the BMW would do better in the drag, he obviously didn't do anything to try and get it to hook. I thought it still be 1 to 1 after the drag though, but I was expecting something like a 0-100-0 run for round three, was not expecting a tug of war.
All in all it was a great day for Pontiac power.

What was it, .02x difference in the autocross? With a broken weld affecting suspension? (Assuming that happened during that first lap which was his best)

Pretty cool

I'm happy to see the bird get the win on the track. Seeing how much Aron was spinning down the track he didn't appear to loose due to lack of HP.

Anyone check out any Mopar forums, might be a few of them making excuses and crying how they were cheated out of the wins. That it was scripted for them to loose?

IIRC, it looked like F/B's nitrous was off for each run as well, unless they were running ridiculously low bottle pressures (I thought I saw a N02 gauge in the RHC of the screen (up close) in a couple of the shots. Maybe that was their "ace-in-the-hole" if needed? Hmmm, it didn't appear to be needed,

Looks like "Li'l Richard" needs a special now on the HISTORY Channel, because, well... he's history.

Also, this March 1977 Car Craft cover and article where H-O Racing's 1968 Firebird 455HO (pretending to be a 1968 RAII--but everyone else was cheating too) beat the 454 Chevelle, Hemi Cuda and 289 Cobra in a "run what ya brung, but street legal drag race at the old Irwindale Strip.

Craig, I remember that. I still have the magazine and the H-O newsletter covering that event. It was cool reading about you guys opening up a can of whoop azz!
I believe it was the first Muscle car shootout, then Jim Mino dominated them in the 80's and now Tiemann and Mahoney are kicking butt's. All done with 68 Firebirds.

History is just repeating itself!!! Pontiac's always ran strong on the street. Their reputation was earned there after 1963. One street race at a time. With the availability of an aluminum block for traditional Pontiac, I can't think of a single legitimate, reason to do an LS swap. Unless you just feel you have to ruin a cool old car.
