Hello Canamman,

Thank you for the purchase. It looks like a very good match to your paint. I am glad you like it. It looks like I have enough interest to run Platinum Metallic for all the 79 Anniversary Editions. I am currently working on getting a good paint sample made. I would expect the welting to become available late summer/early fall.

Many thanks to everybody.

James

Is anyone using staples on the ends of the flares as the factory did or are you all just using adhesive to attach?

Are these still for sale on eBay? I haven’t seen them posted there for a while now.

I'm back with more positive results from long term torture testing unpainted as well as painted samples.

From my last post to the end of Oct. (6 months) i put the sample board through cold temp testing. I'd put the sample board in the refrigerator, next time I opened the fridge I'd put it in the freezer. Next time I opened the freezer it'd go in fridge, then from fridge to floor in kitchen (mid 70's F). Then next fridge opening it'd go back in. So the routine was floor, fridge, freezer, fridge, then back to floor and repeated constantly. I did this as it kinda seemed like the best way to simulate going from cold outside to heated garage or vice versa. Then I tried the fold//twist testing at outside an temp of about 80 F. No cracking, peeling, or other adhesion issues.

I then figured I'd increase the rate of temp extremes difference to see if that would cause any issues. So I'd put the board outside in direct sun then directly into freezer. From freezer the next day into mid day FL full sun with temps already in high 80's let it get hot then back into the freezer. After a month the pieces with just CC, ones with BC/CC, and ones with acrylic enamel with flex agent all passed with flying colors. There were no samples left of other brands to do any of the cold testing with because they had all failed previously.

Still no difference in adhesion noted whether adhesion promoter was used or not and also between brands of adhesion promoter.

Pics from today.

How close is the Cameo white welting compared to a Polar white car?

I'd like to use the molded in color welting on the 70 T/A, but if it looks out of place I'll end up painting it instead.

Hello gs462

Sorry, Brewster Green is a low production color. It is not financially feasible to reproduce it at this time.

As an update: I was working on Platinum Silver for the '79 Anniversary Edition people, but I was not able to get a decent color match at the end of last year and the material supplier was too busy to attempt it again at that time. It has been pushed into 2019 when I can get some time to try again. My regular job is going crazy right now.

Thanks to everybody for their interest and support.

James

Cdoggy81,

I have the cameo white, Starlight black, and a few Buccaneer red left. I also have Lucerne blue as well. I will be doing more traveling with my job for the next few months, so I probably will not have any auctions for a while. You can simply send me an email to jamie@citationindustries.com and I will get back with you on the details.

Thanks,

James

Hi everybody.
Was the welting only used on the wheel flares, only my rear decklid/trunk spoiler has some fitted underneath and it is not all that.
If it is not originally fitted there I can remove it altogether and not replace it
Thanks for any input
Mick

Thanks Guys
The car was restored a few years back, and is not original.
You can see the black welting in this picture of my car.

Since no one has bothered to reply, no that isn't original but doesn't hurt keep water away from spoiler holes either. Added by previous resto guys. I wouldn't want black on a white car, though.

This question dosen't belong in this thread but I’ll bite. Take it off it should not be there. The spoiler holes are sealed with a black caulk referred to as Dum-Dum
