65 Tempest V8 Looking for starter wiring tips
I was wondering if anybody had any ideas on wiring a starter other than dropping the starter and disconnecting wires.
maybe solenoid or junction block just looking for a better idea. Thanks Greg |

What’s the problem you are having with the starter? I didn’t think dropping it was too difficult.

You can use a two piece positive battery cable like a 1964 big car. also make your own 2 piece purple solenoid wire. That way you can leave the wires connected to the starter and disconnect them up at the fender.

Used a relay at the junction point, were the 2 cables meet. But only used the relay for purple start wire, instead of having the ignition have major amperage go thru it, I put a 40 amp relay and used the ignition switch to control the relay. Had a new ignition start to go funny before i did this, all good now, has been 5 years with no issues.
