Default body puddy question

On my GTO hood, some of the body puddy that is between the outer sheet metal and inner frame work is missing, Where can I get some to replace it? Thanks Steve

I imagine you are talking about the seam sealer. Try a local auto part store. May need to find a mom n pop type, not sure you will find it at auto zone or the likes. I got some clear that was paintable and liked it, but I have seen a lot of it grey. Last bit I got was in standard caulking tube, but it can also come in a can. Might even be able to go to a local body shop and see if they will sell you a tube.

It is not seam sealer as far as I know. You want something that doesn’t harden.

I use 3M NVH adhesive. Requires use of their dispensing gun.

Many seam sealers don't harden.

Don't use seam sealer! It tends to shrink as it cures, and that can make your panel look like it has dents in it where it pulls the panel down. Urethane sealers are the worst. You want a soft expanding foam that won't hold the hood skin down when you park it in the sun. Here is an option that dries much faster than the 3M product.

If you decide to use an expanding soft foam, PM me and I'll give you some tips that might make help.

Needs a special gun....but good stuff....wear rubbah gloves. Tip : when you use any of these flutter foam products....just make sure you have all your areas ready to go....and once you start ..DONT STOP ....if you stop...the mixture in the tube will start to activate and you won’t be able to squeeze any more product out. You will have to put another mixing tip on.......Dont ask me how I know this......

So this stuff would be great for the under hood bracing that always separates from the hood especially TA hoods

I worked for Chrysler for over 20 years and what they used on the hood line was called anti flutter. 2 separate drums and the product was mixed in the lines before it got to the dispense nozzle. I think it was a 2 part epoxy. Most important is that it does not shrink as it cures or you will get whats called suck down. Your hood will have a depression above where the epoxy was applied.

One says flexible Urethane foam, the other says Panel Vibration Foam ... the Flexible Urethane (39357) dries way quicker.

i just used 3M wind shield sealant in a caulk tube on my 2nd gen hood where the factory stuff came loose. its black & looks just like the original stuff & has held up for 10 years now with no signs of letting go or causing any shrinkage/dents etc. good strong stuff & about $10/tube.

They keep coming out with new stuff all the time.....looks like either one will work...just stay away from the stuff that dries hard. When I put door skins on a door...there are structures I have to transfer from the damaged skin.....and all those metal reinforcements alway have flutter foam holding them to the inside of the skin and crash bar.
