ROOTS blowers are bad like Domed Pistons, 2-speed trans, and spools; the worst on paper., yet the best in the right hands.
Procharger; 0.7 Sec ET imporved for running an intercooler is stunning at 8.2 to 7.50 level applied horsepressure. Im Half-Wit enought to try the compressed air with a blow-thru carb. |

Tom, yea i have done the calcs for the superchager thermal rise; WE all get mighty concerned with thermal rise of beaten & compressed air!
There is a Fackebook joke of a Van with a roof-mounted Turbo; well the discharge pipe is sooo long that it may be a good intercooler ( several RT-turn elbows will harm momentum&velocity, but compare what an intercooler does to momentum & velocity. IF our people would avoid momentum loss upon Compressor exit-to-Intake opening...goodness! |

As you know HIS, there is a thing called Charge Density and Charge Density when affected by Thermal increases IS affected. More lbs per min or Kg/sec and the HP goes upward. Simple Physics.
I could care less what some guy who put a turbo on the roof of his vehicle did I do have a 351 Ford Van story for you though. He had a Ford Pantera style (engine between the seats vs just behind the seats Van). Engine was designed for boost and he put a large diesel Turbo on the engine. One day he came in with a piece of the driveshaft with 7 "spiral wound" turns on the tube. Rev Limiter saved the engine when the yoke/driveshaft exited the vehicle on the dyno. RW dyno, it made 570 hp and over 600 lbs/ft of torque, so easily over 600 hp at less than 14 psi of boost. That ended the dyno session. Tom V.
