used Comp Cams #995 Valve Springs, for Pontiac D-port heads (checked OK at 95 lbs. @ 1.70" installed height), dual springs with outer, inner & dampner, set of 16 $25 plus shipping

No work needed...they are the same diameter and height as stock valve springs.
They were installed on '68 400 #62 heads with no problems.

Just FYI, stock install height is a little less then 1.6...

Comp has a tool to cut the seat if you want to go that route.

I used these on my 6x-8, but installed the earlier valves making install height closer to 1.7.
