1976 and 1977 taillights are the same. What identifies this car is a 1976 is the header panel/grille assemblies. This particular Grand LeMans is missing it's rear trim applique.
The DVAP car: What it used to look like:

Knew a Black over Black interior 77 GT around the 1988 time frame. At the time had a great body and interior engine had issues after and oil change and the guy who owned it let it go back to the lot that sold it to him.
Looking back I shoulda bought it for what he owed.

76 LeMans grille had simple horizontal line in grille, while 77's had busy verticle lines.
The base models had plain trunk lids, as did Jackie Gleason's sheriff Buford's LeMans in "Smokey & Bandit". Also, that DVAP car is a base model, no Sport Coupe badge. |

"It's those dang grilles!!!!"
BTW: I feel your grille pains....but then again it could be like a NASA issue...
Incorrect for a 1976? |

Here is a 77 GT that a friend of mine has owned for years. I keep bugging him to get it done and back on the road. Picture is from 1980s.
