buy it
Cool find. You should buy it.
The 1973 A body cars are the best of the 73-77 cars. They drive very well & with the rarity of the car you will never lose money on it unless the current owner thinks that it is gold. Good luck with your decision.

Value
Thanks, But what the hell could this thing be worth ? I have no clue due to the low numbers, and I believe it's a 1 year only car.

73
The owner is a friend of mine- I've had 9 ---66 to 67 GTO's . So he asked me to help him with the research of value. The 73 is out of my knowledge area as far as price. I personally never liked the body style although the ride and handling is way better than the early goats.

Quote:
The car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Obviously the car is worth at least $5000 USD but no one is ever going to pay $20,000 USD. The bench seat hurts it for many. The gears in the diff & posi or not will also affect the value. The more options on the car the more the price goes up. The trump card for the seller is that this is a 455 car. If it was mine to sell I don't think I would part with it for less than $12000. This assumes no mechanical issues, no rust issues & that the car is useable as is. Apologies in advance if my price estimates are out of line (based more on my knowledge of the 1973 442 and my lesser knowledge of the 1973 GTO).

Lime green with tan interior plus the super cool D98 Body stripe. Is this car still original paint and stripe?

For reference, my original paint, fully number matching, 4 speed car with 58k miles recently sold for $20k pretty quick. This one's colors are not good, and the bench/column shift are not optimal. I'd give no more than $14k for it as it sits.

The low 26k miles helps the value. "Z" is a Fremont CA car. Did it spend most of its life in CA? Looks like very little rust. Bring it to the MCACN barn finds exhibit next year and see what offers it generates.

It's been a while since I cruised thru the PY Forums and just came across this post. A little history as I am very familiar with it.
This car has been in Western New York since 1985 when I looked at it about a year after I bought my '73 GTO. Being young and not needing 2 cars to restore, I passed on it. I checked out the VIN and the trim tag and knew then that it was a 1 of 25 car, but my 4-speed Sport Coupe was cooler at the time. The car was painted white with the wrong interior. It had since been sold and ended up about 35 miles from me painted the correct Olive Green color minus the tan vinyl top and the same incorrect interior (seats & door panels appeared to be Luxury LeMans pieces). The accent stripe was actually painted on and a little larger that the correct vinyl design. It turned up for sale in the early 1990s, I went and looked at it, and one of my fellow local GTO club members bought it. He knew what he had after talking to me and stored it with plans to correct the mistakes, but unfortunately passed away and the car was sold by his estate to the current owner. Another of my friends in the club lives near the current owner, who had stored it away for the last 20+ years. I would occasionally ask my friend about it, but he had not seen the owner or the car until recently. Finally some news about the car that it was for sale and in September 2015 I went to look at it. They were asking $20K for it because it was rare, but I felt it was worth more like $8K because of condition. Being in storage a long time there was minor rust in the trunk, quarters, and fenders. The quarter and back window trim for the vinyl top was intact. As I said, the accent stripe was painted on. Drivetrain is numbers matching. I felt to make this car correct it needed a lot of TLC, install the vinyl top and correct LeMans coupe interior. Below are my pics from 2015. It's worth whatever a buyer wants to pay. It would be a nice car done correctly. Sandy, PM me if you have questions about it.

Anyone remember the "Collecting" column written by Jerry Heasley that appeared in Musclecars magazine? Someone once wrote in about one of these cars. I wonder if it is the same car? I may be able to find the issue and run a name and/or location to narrow it down....

Current owner Alex told me it was all original, but he is not totally up on these car's and I didn't pursue it any further! I think he was looking for a bigger number than my offer which was probably more than the car is worth, but it is 1 of 25 even though it need's some thing's done to bring it back?
Lyn.

$5,000- $7,000 value. Getting it professionally painted and a light resto would take it over what it's worth.

If you are valuing this car at $5-7000 USD I think you are way under its value.
