The obvious question is why?

Mike and I set out with the goal of proving that a Pontiac could run on the most violent fuel out there. Mission accomplished.

We wanted to run in the 5's. Mission accomplished.

Try to do something nobody else had done...turns out it was being the first to 250 mph. Mission accomplished.

The car is in record-setting condition, ready to go down the track....and now it's time for us to look for a new adventure.

It's been an honor and a pleasure to serve these gentlemen on this car, as Propulsion Engagement Specialist (clutch guy) and court jester. More counterweight? No problem. Amish stripper jokes, also no problem! Whatever the future holds, once again, I'm all in.

Wow! Been watching the hardcore Boss Bird team work hard and play hard for a long time. It has been a lot of fun to watch...thanks for the memories. Congrats again on the significant accomplishments. Looking forward to seeing what’s next for you guys.

PS I sat next to your Mom in the stands at Norwalk a few years back when you made one of your stellar passes. She and everyone else around us were going nuts with excitement.

I am glad Eric led off with the advertisement. We worked together on it for a few days. This has been in the works since early fall. The item Eric didn't mention and probably doesn't want to get into is the cost of running a car like this in a safe manner. It's not cheap, and we have been running it 100% out of pocket for the last several years. We have the car at the point where new blood can move right in and possibly take the car to the next level. It's an exciting opportunity for the right person or small group. For me its been many hours a year for 26 years. I am not leaving the hobby. Hope to have a few coins when this is all done to put a proper engine in my 62 Catalina. Would very much like the race operation to stay in the Pontiac community and eventually go quicker and faster than we did. Car will be sold with two fresh engines, ready to go.

There's more performance improvement left on the table for the next owner to explore. Weight reduction would be very productive, clutch tuning isn't fully matured and the tuneup could be made more aggressive.

Here's hoping for more to come!

Good luck to you guys in what ever is next. I was able help out when it burned to the ground at GLD and was one of the first to help push the car off the track at Norwalk after the 585 @250 talk about full circle. Memory's I will keep for ever.

Thank you very much. That car provided the highest highs, and the lowest lows. The fire at GLD greatly depleted the $$ we had carefully saved up to run the car. We were determined to not end our racing career with our Pontiac race car left in a smoldering pile and all the Chrysler and Chevy people standing around saying "I told you so, you bunch of idiots". So I depleted a good portion of my retirement and we all made substantial sacrifices to get the car back on the track and running with the pack again. Basically, all that was saved was the chassis and some engine parts. I am proud of my team and Eric for his driving skills. We have the car in a great position for someone to take it to the next level. We have paid our dues and paved the way for better performance. It's going to take someone who really loves Pontiacs, and wants to go really fast. The buy-in is a tiny fraction of what we have put into this operation. Thanks again for your help when we really needed it.

Thanks Jack. It is our desire to continue to see this car on the track breaking new ground in the hands of the next owner. We just don't have the financial HP to give the car what it deserves. You are among the few who know how much we were able accomplish with a tiny budget once the car was built. Your work on our current engine blocks were a MAJOR reason we were able to finally run some big numbers without damage. For some who don't know, I made several trips to NY, from OH to have Jack work his magic on the oiling circuits in the aluminum blocks. His ability to bore a perfect, smooth enlarged main oil gallery was an instant end to our main bearing oiling issues. This in conjunction with an ingenious internal chamfer tool he designed and produced to smooth and funnel oil to the mains from the main gallery, internally. Thanks again Jack. As I have said, the template is there for greater performance. This is a jumping off point for us but much lies ahead. A great opportunity for someone.

I was hoping to see what the Boss Bird could do this summer with its issues ironed out and set on kill. But there was a mention of no races scheduled for the upcoming season I thought something might be up. Expensive game. Thanks for the memories and all you guys have done. Especially sharing info you did not have to.
