Default Wide 69 Gas Door & Hardware

Ok, I'm a little bored............

I'm going to restore my door and hardware. My car came thru with the 9796376/GH wider plate (as did my Dad's 69 LeMans that he purchased new). It looks like the washers and the threads in the screws have hung onto a little of the original plating. It should be silver cadmium as I understand it, and that's what it looks like. Anyone disagree?

I have never paid much attention to this before, but the plate is painted silver on the top lip/edge. I can scratch this off with my finger nail. It is not paint from license plates as it extends over the top of the door--it is painted. I plan to duplicate this. Has anyone seen this done from the factory?

I don't know when a switch was made to the more narrow door--probably different at each factory.

I also included the replated license plate light/bolts. I should have done the door hardware at the same time, but missed it.

Never seen that before but I will start looking at all my cars, my 69 GP has a handle on it and I've seen that on a GTO once in a while. I'll check my cars this weekend
