Judge T-Handle--June Legend Article
I'm posting this to add to and somewhat contradict the info in the Legend about the Hurst T-handle with the shift pattern. In the thread linked here, if you read all of it, we believed that the closed 4 version was the earlier Judge T-handle and the open 4 was first used near the end of 69 Judge production--at least at some factories. Apparently the 70 and 71 Judges got the open 4 T-handle. Every owner with an original T-handle was consistent on this point. If you look at the pictures we had and in the Legend, there are some differences in the closed 4 version such as the size of "HURST" and how the number 1 is made. (I don't know the origin of Dennis Kirban's closed 4 T-handle.)
http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...-handle+closed As for the Ford version of the T-handle with the pattern, I have attached a few pictures of an NOS Ford T-handle with the shift pattern. These used an open 4 and a set screw that could be tightened. Pontiacs did not use the set screw/hole in the end of the T-handle. These were used on the 1970 Boss 302 and some other 1970 Ford 4-speeds. The 1969 Boss 302 did not use the T-handle. This may also support the idea that the open 4 was a later Hurst version of the 4-speed T-handle since the Ford 1970 versions were likely all open 4's. I purchased the T-handle pictured around 1980 from a Hemmings ad and had to learn what it was used with since it was not a Pontiac part. Thanks to Dennis Kirban for the article in the Legend.

What is the hole in the end of that shifter handle for?
This shifter handle was on my other GT-37. Is it aftermarket?
