Default Engines shipped from Pontiac to other plants

I don't know that we have discussed this extensively, but if we can, I would like for us to nail down what components were on the engines when shipped from the engine plant to the other plants.

Which of these parts were on the engines: distributor, water pump, carb, exhaust manifolds.

The fan was apparently not on the engine because mine is dated January 1969 and the car was assembled the third week of January. The fans would likely have been bent in shipment anyway.

I am specifically trying to determine what a likely water pump date would have been. I assume the pump was bolted to the engine before shipment, but I want to see if others agree.

Thanks

"The engines were run in at Plant 9.
It had been run without a carburetor
on it.
They had a hose with an air-natural gas
mixture that clamped down onto the intake,
and the engine would run just as if it had a
carburetor.
They could push buttons and rev
these motors up and run ‘em at a certain
rpm.
After they got done they’d pull the
hoses off the water connections, disconnect
the plate from the intake and send it on its
way."

C&P from Smoke Signals "Made in Pontiac"

Hope this helps some...

Distributor, water pump and exhaust manifolds were on the engine as shipped from Pontiac.

Carb - varies based on model year, but I do not think they were on the engine for 69/70/71.

Engine cooling fans were installed at the final vehicle assembly plant.

Wasn't the "Made in Pontiac" series first ran in The Legend aprox 20 years ago? Believe I have all the issues
I gave up my memberships to both clubs many years ago.

Fans & brackets & pulleys weren't on assembled engines from Pontiac engine plant for several reasons. The main reason being, the engines once shipped to final assembly plant hung on a hook for a while before scheduled to be fed into the lines & go in a car. That car might have been built w/o a/c, with a/c, with p/s, w standard steering (SS in the parts books, ie, manual steering). Once late '71 arrived, the 80 amp alt/ ps bracket set-ups were occasionally used, just another option that effected bracket/pulley "packaging".
