Default Cranked the old CBR

Years ago I wanted a sport bike and bought a 1991 CBR F2 as my first bike. I had a lot of fun riding it, but I let it sit for 6 to 8 years after buying my Firebird. Well, when I opened the gas tank, it looked bad so I took it off, cleaned the tank and used Red Kote Tank Sealer to coat it. When I finally got everything together and tried to start it just now, it started as fast as ever and ran well--at least w/o riding it. I am extremely surprised. I have a lot of Marvel Mystery Oil in the gas so it smoked a little--as expected.

So, now I have "too many engines" as my wife tells me, and I need to work on the Judge so I may sell the bike. I also have 2 boys--one autistic. And I'm a CPA in public accounting and work a lot. I guess I'm just venting as my wife calls it when she does it! lol

I'll probably put the bike on e-bay in the next few weeks--Oh well. You don't see many of these 91 F2's with the original paint that still look good. I guess I just wanted to tell somebody!

i vote you take for a spin around the block at least. She sat there and waited for you.

I know how you feel; I just gave away a 13b-t and a small turbo 4(litterally just engines), as the clutter was affecting me negatively.

I will definitely burn the heavily doctored gas out before letting it go.

thanks

I wanted a V65 magna so badly in '80s I could hardly stand it. Could never have afforded it...so when I found a decent one last winter I bought it and restored it...awesome bike! And fast as snot.
Now I'm buying the cars I couldn't afford in the '80s and '90s as well. Timeless!, but with shorter hair now!! Lol

That's pretty, Alan.

I never paid much attention to bikes until around 1991 forward when the sport bikes came out with better looking fairings on them. There was a 91 CBR 1000 that I liked too. And I like the newer sport bikes.

And I like antique planes too. If I could just retire, I could have more fun!

Great looking CBR!
I had an '87 "back in the day" - black w red graphics (pic below). But that was when I was young, no kids, living in the Blue Ridge Mountains, etc.

I sold it a long time ago...

I still think sport bikes are cool - just no place for one in my life at the moment

Yep - I had a '91 CBR1000F, white red and blue graphics. Then I bought the first truly lightweight "Liter-Class" Honda, a '93 CBR900RR - also white with red and blue graphics.

That 900RR was one BAD ride - back in it's day!

I sold that 900RR to buy the engagement ring. I knew I was goona kill myself the way I rode, and I didn't want to make my new young wife a young widow!
I haven't swung my leg over a bike since.

That is awesome! It's amazing how it's 24 years old but really doesn't look too dated. I have a cruiser that I love but I just rode a Ninja 650 over the weekend and kind of have the itch to add a sport bike to the collection... What is something like that worth?

I also loved that one and read articles about it when it came out, but I did not get a bike until about 10 years ago. (I turned 56 this month.) I had never sat on a running motorcycle until I bought this 91 CBR. I knew how the controls worked and the guy that transported it here started it when he pulled it out. I got on, put it in first, started letting out the clutch and rolled on the throttle..........I took off down the cement driveway like a bullet with the guy yelling, "WHOA!!!". I got it slowed down, turned it off and walked it into the garage. I later started riding around the neighborhood but realized it did not need so much gas! What a hoot that was.

That's a good question. Older nice sport bikes with original paint are few I think.

My pm box is about full. It has about 18,000 miles, a few scratches, mostly all original except things like tires, battery, maintenance items, and the tank was red koted as I said. The shock, etc is original.

I don't really know what I want for it now.
