Default 1108353 Ram Air Starter on E-bay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-pontiac...16.m2518.l4276

It looks like it is all there if you really need one although I have not studied it very much. The metal tube to shield the wires from the manifold is the same as mine. With this early date, this starter would have been on one of the few pre-January Ram Air III's or a January Ram Air III Judge. There is likely no chance it came on a RA IV in February or later.

My 1C Judge has a November 1968 1108353 starter as a comparison.

Needs to be restored too...or it's shelf jewelry.

Tell me about it. I found a 436 starter dated perfect for my 72 455HO convertible, but the owner wants $1000, or $250 and my early 1971 dated 436 starter. I'll probably kick myself if he sells it, but I can't bring myself to pay an extra $250 for a date code.

I wonder how many dates there were after the date you have.

It is expensive and probably only worth considering for a car with a mostly all original drivetrain. But there are some that are almost all original except for the carb or starter.

Carbs, starters, master cylinders, shifters or voltage regulators are sometimes that last piece for a mostly original car.

Starter and an alternator and mine would be all there… It's still $850! LOL. Thanks for the link though.

I don't know. I was also a little nervous that they owner wouldn't tell me the exact date his 436 starter was. He said it was early 1972.

Does anyone have a list of valid dates for the 436 starters? I don't know what my 436 starter came off of. I have two YE blocks dated Feb 1971 and I had a WC dated 4/15, so it's possible it came off of one of those engines. The date would match up with either of those. If I use the 436 starter I have, it will be dated more than a year before my car was built, which I think is way too early.

Mike

Ive never attended a Judged event, would a judge crawl under and check the starter date code?

FYI This starter was in the FS section here a few months ago by a fellow PY er.
