66 small or ear muff sail panel trim?
Trying to find the correct trim or make something similar for the bottoms of the small sail panel. I was fortunate to find the headliner trim that goes next to the ends of the package tray. Now I just need those 6” pieces that go on the bottom of the small sail panels.
Any photos, leads, ideas for making pieces, greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Thank for the photo; but that is not the trim piece I was looking for. The trim piece is only a lot 6” long and matches the pattern of the trim piece that goes between the package tray and headliner along the side. I’ll see if I have a photo of the area. These small sail panels sometimes called ear muff were discontinued sometime after 12/31/65 by what they call large sail panels

Check the Legendary site. I believe they offer both early and late styles.

Lots of vender offer the small and large sail panels, I find NO one that reproduces the trim pieces.

You didn't look hard enough. NPD has them. Page 14 of their GTO catalog. They are for 64-65, and 66-67. And they are US made OE reproductions. These, and they are what you are looking for, are for the ends of the package try. Not the bottom of the sail panel.
My 66 GTO doesn't have them, but they are listed too. 66-67.... C-15024-121A 20.95 (pair). Not sure if all HTs had them or not. Could it have been per Factory?

I think those are for the end of the package tray, some; but not all cars received them. In fact I have a pair of those in the garage.
The trim pieces I am looking for do NOT go on the package tray. There are 4 pieces in all, 2 about 16” long and 2 about 5” long, the photo shows them pretty clearly. I have the two longer pieces. Those package tray pieces don,t have the same pattern and are not the same dimensional as the sail panel trim pieces. I have included a couple of photos I found on the Internet, one shows the piece that the longer trim piece slides over after the headline is glued to the metal strip shown. And the other shows two of the longer strips and three of the shorter strips; but I am not sure if they are originals or something somebody made. Last edited by jim larson; 01-12-2018 at 12:25 PM. |

Ahhhh ok. Never seen anything like those 3 small ones before Jim. They look handmade. Tho the 2 long ones do look to me like they're for the package tray ends. All I can say is good luck.
