GTOKen had a web page that showed the locations.
The website is not working now.

Hasn't been on PY for awhile?

Here is a link to the info that he had from his page:

Hood Tach Location

There is also a page in the assembly manual, but I don't have the manual.
Have a pic of the page but not real clear.

One of the GTO members with a 1968 stated the distance on his factory hood was 12.5" and it'll nip into the cross brace under the sheetmetal.

Here is a pic of an original 1970 hood from the underside.

Does anyone know what the "O" Line is referencing in the location diagram from the assembly manual?

I'd say it's the 'left to right' line perpendicular to the 'front to back' of the car. Gives the 2º tilt of the tach a reference line.
(2º from perpendicular to the centerline of car front to back, hood edges are not 'straight' from side to side)
