Default Need Wood Pallets

Anyone have any good suggestions on where to get cheap or free pallets. I guess Home Depot, Lowes etc. don't hand them out like they used to.

I'm willing to pay a reasonable price for them. Don't need nice ones, I'll fix whatever I get. By reasonable I mean like $10 each.

Need like a half dozen of them.

I work for a company that manufactures commercial and industrial UPSs and power distribution. Many of the larger parts come in on pallets, which are supposed to be returned to the supplier. There is a core charge on any pallets not returned, so it's pretty hard to get standard pallets.

Have you checked craigslist? They are always selling and/or giving away pallets on CL around here.

If you were in San Diego I'd say come on down! My former workplace had them stacked everywhere and usually just threw them in the trash where he homeless would grab them and use them sleeping off the ground.
But all kidding aside troll around grocery store dumpsters. Broken ones may end up there.

OG, actually you might be on to something .... saw few listing on CR and some of them had pictures of pallets piled up .... almost always on that road behind the stores where the dumpsters etc. are.

Guessing I could just drive behind the strip malls, stores and such and look for them.

If you happen to be around my way, Phelps Cement Products usually has a pile of free pallets.

Look at metal supply houses, such as Alaskan Copper or Bralco.

Maybe they go by the area too, but Tractor Suppy Company always lets me take pallets and skids when I need them.

Haven't checked recently, but local lumberyard gave them away last summer. Would even help load them to get rid of them.

Happened to be by Lowes today, drove around back, saw a bunch of pallets. As I was checking out I asked about them ... free for the taking whenever they are there. Not the best pallets in the world, but workable.

The huge locally owned lumber yard/industrial park has tens of thousands of them in use, but with the virus thing going on no one really felt like being cooperative.

So I picked up seven from Lowes, will check back every week to look for the heavy duty ones.

Thanks for the help folks.

Never paid for them. Just looked around and most places where glad to get rid of them. Was making cheap outdoor furniture at the time.

my local Menards has a spot just outside the warehouse gate where you can drop off pallets and/or take a few.
