That '66 didn't belong to Al Longley. He had a red '65 Bonneville conv. with parchment guts, 421, 4 speed, 8 lugs. He thinks it's out east, perhaps New York State.

The 14" OE steelies on my '65 are not round enough to provide a smooth ride. Vibes at 70. Multiple checks on different machines indicate they're "elliptical"...no idea how or why. Wheels have been road force balanced, so it's as good as it can get. Tires are GR70-14 Firestone Wide Oval Super Sport redlines. Love the look, but given 14x6, 5x5 steelies aren't available (other than custom made), I'm forced to upsize to 15". The Firestone section width of 8.7" leaves about 1" clearance to the fender lip. OE 14x6 wheels have a 4.25" backspace which equates to +19mm or +0.75" offset. Same backspace on a 15" wheel with similar tire. A 15x6 steelie that looks OE with a 4.25" backspace or a 15x7 steelie with a 5.25" backspace seems to be unobtanium at this point...unless they're custom made. Not going to a skinny tire, 70s all around of some kind.
