Default Ames tri power throttle cable N149B

Anyone try this yet, today I noticed im short about a 1/8 to open the carb to the stops, must have been this way along time, the carpet mats didn't help the matter much either. lol

Also was wondering while checking things out, seems like my linkage from pedal up to the cable couldn't be any more sloppy...…...any fix for this.

If anyone has the correct pedal to the firewall linkage, let me know.

Thanks

Rich

Default Tripower throttle cable

Rich,

I am at the same point that you are. My end carbs are about 1/8 inch from opening all the way. I am using the OEM four barrel cable. I just have not purchased the Ames part N149B. Just not sure it will fix the problem. I have been trying to adjust the cable to gain the 1/8 inch but have not hit the full open spot yet.

I hear ya Larry...…….im not sure I even have the oem 4 barrel cable...….was over at a friends house today, he has a 64, the one with 3 eyelets, when he pushes it to the floor, he still has about an inch of cable left...…….mine stops way before that.

2nd question for you 66 boys...……..do I even have the right gas pedal assembly, my buddy with the 64 looks quite different, his seems tight and stiff, oh boy. lol...…...mine is loose every way you move it,

Was wondering if someone with a 66 could send me a couple shots of their pedal assembly, that would help things.

Thanks

Rich

Rich, I contacted John at Pontiactripowers.com yesterday. John sent me measurements required on my cable and a few other items that I need to fix. I have used John for the last few years while rebuilding my tripower. The CD that he offers is very clear and details much of the required adjustments for the Pontiac tripower.

The pedal in my 1965 is 10 inches long. The pedal in my 1966 is 5.5 inches long.

Thanks, Larry.

Rich,

I just pull the seat out to get under the dash. The seat is only 2 nuts and 2 bolts. It makes life so much easier.
