Default Aftermarket '66 header panel quality

Hi all,

Do any of you have experience with the repop header panels available for the '66? The Ames catalogue says they "fit well", but also says quality is "fair to good", which is often code for "they will take some work to get right". I know people have issues with the '67 part, but I haven't seen any definitive info on the '66 part.

Trying to decide whether to fix my original which was significantly damaged and poorly repaired, or buy new.

Thanks!

I would consider a quality used piece if yours is damaged - shouldn't be too hard to find?

Might be easier said than done. Only seeing one used original on eBay now, and it's damaged, too.

The aftermarket header panel for 1966 is garbage. And I am not just saying that because I have a decent original for sale. I actually bought one when I was doing my restoration and it was just terrible

That's unfortunate about the repop quality. What kinda shape is your original that's for sale (got photos?), and how much are you looking to get for it?

I got a repro one a couple of years ago. It did not fit properly, unfortunately. It did not follow the shape of the grilles correctly and looked just wrong. I went on Searchtempest to search every Craigslist ad in the US. It didn't take long to find one where the seller was OK with shipping. I sold the repro one on ebay and the buyer left me negative feedback because it didn't fit properly, even after I described it in the listing.
