71 Formula 455 on ebay
I'm surprised no one has brought this Formula up for discussion. I know its not an HO car, but still fairly rare. It does have its rust issues.

Believe its the same one that had been on Craigslist for a while.
They keep pricing it like its a rust free HO car |

100k when restored?
The rear panel looks to be completely rotted.

ok, this had me scratching my head;

I get with late model cars, and get with pampered original cars... but when a car is encroaching on 50 years old, is there anyone that would put any type of premium on a lower mile (prior to restoration) car?

I too have one of the 350 Formula 455s that is fully restored but N.O.M. I would let mine go for a bit south of 40k! Don't think his $100k claim is realistic! My 2cents.

everyone here knows the 455HO cars are worth more because they are plain old more desireable, yet I don't think I've seen one hit the assessed value suggested in the auction description ($70k).

71 FORMULA
Besides not being a HO seems a little high for a automatic car, In the one photo of the motor do's the passenger fender look to be a the wrong year?

the L75 1971 Formulas were auto-only.
The passenger fender looks to be the correct one-year fenders to me... unless I've missed something.

71 FORMULA
The outside of the fender looks correct but the inside fender looks like it has extra holes for bracing?

This car's been on eBay for awhile, and I'm pretty sure it was discussed at some point -- perhaps posted in the lobby by someone.
In my experience when a rear tail panel lower valance is that rotten, the rear rails are gone, too. And a lot of other lower body parts... Agree with everyone else - the price is really unrealistic.

Yup, the ass end of that car is going to need lots of work, and the car isn't going to be worth the cost of restoration. Cool car in an oddball kind of way, but not worth the money he thinks it is.

Guess if the 350 total included both autos and manuals (M22s?) then they'd be more valued...the manuals anyway.

Pretty nice project what would you pay for it?

R/F (passenger) fender is a replacement. L/F is an original.

$15k is the most I'd pay for it.

Not sure I would go that high, that thing is tough as my Canadian friend would say.
As was mentioned, that car will need extensive work in the rear.

I figured the 455HO and transmission together are worth 10k. The rest is the numbers matching body and stuff.

The car in question is not an HO car.

Very similar price comparison in the '71 GTO ranks with the 455 Dport cars (534 built), with fairly complete original drivetrains present, the L75 Dport cars are just not in the same price range with similar condition '71 455 HO cars.
Have owned two '71 455 Dport GTO hardtops, one left here as a numbers matching project, the other was parted to the ground. Over the years have also parted on two other '71 455 GTO's in longtime yards. Factory equipped with the 455 D port (YC coded) engines, these '71's & 72's typically dont create anywhere near the hard core restoration interest as same year performance Pontiac A & F-bodys equipped the round port 455HO engine.
