Edelbrock Performer RPM Vacum Port
Halo, I need your experience with Edelbrock Performer RPM intake. Intake has only one Vacum port, at the back next to the distributor. In my other tread I drilled a port in my baseplate, full manifold vacuum for PCV valve and everything is fine. I have now ordered Venom VX carburetor from ProSystems and he wants to come without a PVC port. I don't want to change anything on the new Carburetor because it will be calibrated on my combo.
OK I have the same dilema now, I am missing a Vacum Port for PCV Valve. My plan is now: *1X Full Manifold Vacum Carb. front baseplate for distributor *1X Full Manifold Vacum Carb. rear baseplate for PCV *1X Full Manifold Vacum on Intake for Transmission. now I missing one port for power brakes. Can I use a T connection for transmission and power brakes? Can I drill intake and where for a Transmission or Powerbrakes port? My online search didn't help me much. Hood Clerance prevents me from installing 1 inch spacer. I am very interested in your experience Thanks Ivo |

PCV absolutely MUST come from the center of the carb front or rear or if offset must split evenly to both sides of the intake. The reason for this should be obvious as any attempt to pull PCV vacuum into one side or one running would not distribute those vapors evenly to the engine nor would the controlled vacuum leak it produces be well balanced to all cylinders.
The factory also felt that power brake vacuum although not consumed is best in the same scenario but it's really not as critical, neither is the vacuum to the transmission modulator as it's just for reference not pulling continuously or controlled vacuum leak. I still prefer to pull PCV and power brakes from the carb, evenly distributed to both sides of a divided or dual plane intake. The full manifold vacuum signal to the trans modulator cam come from anyplace, T'd in or not really doesn't matter.......Cliff

I'd never noticed a problem before, but this can't hurt. Thanks for the tip.

Single plane intakes are easy since all cylinders are connected in a common plenum area. With dual plane/divided intakes distribution becomes an issue for PCV supply vacuum as you wouldn't want to have it stuffed in one runner or even on one side only......

Thanks, I figured that I'll likely notice no difference at all. But, I was really, really bored.

I made my own spacer for PCV and I want to try it. My Venom VX came today. Tomorrow will be fired up. Again, Patrick from Pro Sysrems is great. Order, delivery went very quickly, after 2 weeks Carb arrived in Germany.
