I have subframe connectors to put in and likely will be putting in a eight point rollbar to be track legal
for planned engine. Are those braces that go from fender to rad support necessary or do they actually do anything??Do most guys leave them in or take them out.

Actually they act kind of like a monty- carlo bar in the mustangs, they help tie the frount end together. But just like the old stock mustang bars they are flimsy.I believe Larry Nivaro has some nice Bar stock units made up for sale for about 30 bucks, i know they look really cool, and they are alot thicker to help reduce flex.

Here's a link to Larry's custom braces.
I'll probably buy some as soon as I get my car back together.

Those bars do add structural rigidity but are not an important part of the car. '70-'72 Firebirds didn't even have them. They were added in 1973 to meet the stricter crash standards imposed that year.

Herb Adams old "front structure kit" had a brace that bolted from firewall/cowl lip and front fender bolt to the front upper A arm bolt. There were also some small braces on the lower A arm bolts to frames on TAs and Z28s. All tie into frame and not just the femder to core support.

Skip,
Did you ever buy any of Herb's front structure kits?

I've got one for A/C and had it chromed.(It may go on this Camaro project getting my 455 in it) Got tired of trying to change #2,4 plugs with it. Tried the Herb Adams subframe bushing kit, rear sway bar(great with a stock front one for a looser rear end). And I have his solid bushing/spherical bearing weld in front A arm kit I am finally going to use in a Camaro after 20 + years.I never wanted to weld in my original A arms. I got alot of it when I lived in San Jose and would drive down to Monterrey to their shop.Fun drive down some of the back roads in my TA, wife stil says most of CA was a blur in the TA.
