'73 ABS Front Valance
Anybody know of anybody still selling the reproduction ABS '73 valance? The Parts Place apparently discontinued it.
Tried to order from Ames and was told it was discontinued. I've tried everybody else I can think of but I get the impression nobody actually stocked this part so nobody has any stock of them. The guy I spoke with at The Parts Place said he never heard of it. Hoping that somebody here knows of somebody that has one for sale. I'll put up a Parts Wanted for it here but I've never had any luck in the past looking for parts here. I have a steel one but liked the look of the original style ABS valance. |

Haven't seen a new one in 6 years. These needed a ton of work

Well I’m glad to hear they’re not available after spending so much time resurrecting the original one I was provided with. Pretty sure it was run over a few times.

The repop metal does NOT fit at the edge of the front fender. It is at a wrong angle and makes a wide gap at top as I recall.
There are a bunch of " NOS" metal valence floating around. While most of these are from the late 80's. They are actually the newer revision of the metal valence offered in 70- mid 72. The revision allows the use of " capsule" ( one piece) front lights ( clear and Amber) . Pontiac had a ton of these made as the poly valence were failing even before shipping in many cases. In some cases a unpainted one was just delivered in the trunk of a car with a broken front valence, Unpainted. So a used/ NOS metal one you find may well be made for the newer lights/ harness Nov '72 thru '73 , but FIT well.

That’s good to know as I’m seeing what parts I have for the restoration of my 70. I didn’t realize there were so many variations as I thought 70-73 were all the same.

The original plastic valence is made from polyethylene not ABS.
