Continued from previous posts.

We use the band-type clamps for everywhere except the muffler bushings and they need to hang off the pipe you are trying to clamp just a tad so they can compress the relief slotted area correctly.

I always use Walker's AcoustiSeal sealer in the muffler and pipe joints so they seal without the need for crushing the pipes via excessive clamping. It also eliminate little leaks.

One more thing. We used the Pypes-supplied tailpipe hangers and located them roughly 7" from the center of the rear spring hanger shackle upper bolt's center.

The image shows the hanger with pipe tab through it.

The bottom of the hanger in the rear was even with the bottom of the frame and the 7" dimension was to the edge of the insulator. Both sides were mounted in the same spot so both pipes would be oriented the same way.

The system fits very well and sounds even better. It has been a long time since I have heard the crossflow system. With all the factory-type insulators, you feel no vibration inside the car and the sound is definitely behind you. Some under car mufflers you can feel roaring under the floor but the crossflow behind you gets rid of that noise.

It has a nice smooth sound at idle and low speeds and snarls at higher throttle openings. I felt or heard no resonation BUT we were not able to drive the car due to the snow. We will get around to it maybe later this week. If I can, I'll get some sound measurements for comparison with previous work we did on muffled Pontiacs.

Thanks a lot Tom for taking the time. I just saw this today and will read through it later after work and take note. I'm still working on the gas tank lines, so the muffler is out and I have time to work this out..
Thanks again!
