Hello.......I have 2 extra sets of SD valve covers that I do not need. Was wondering what they bring.

Feel free to PM me any questions...... Joel

I didn't think there was any difference in a SD valve cover vs a D-Port valve cover. Anyone have any insight?

Same. They didn't even have the decency to give us the chrome jobs so many other Poncho's got.

Didn't the SD's have round port valve covers?

(I think that's what made them a little faster than the regular 455's)

SD valve covers have flanges that drop oil on the valve-train. Much like 1978 WS6 cars, but the WS6 valve covers were stainless and the SD's are steel.

I thought all valve covers after a certain year (1971?) received the built-in oil drippers.

I'd give 50 for the one with the sticker.

All 73-up valve covers have the spot welded oil deflectors in the valve covers. It doesn't matter if they're on a 350 2-bbl or a SD-455. The rod bolt instruction decal is the only thing that makes it a "SD" valve cover and once thats removed it becomes the same as the other millions of Pontiac valve covers made.

Also, the the '78 W72 engine(not sure where you got WS6, thats a suspension option) valve covers are NOT stainless. They are flash chromed steel. Thats why they look so much duller than the '67-70 chrome valve covers. The GM bean counters didn't want to spend the money to properly chrome them by the late '70s.

Not sure, but I think Only 4 around the oil/PVC breather hole.

Just to add.......The bolt on drippers/baffles were standard on ALL 70-72 with 4BC,as I recall.
