70 Trans Am correct finish for control arms
Could someone send some pictures of the correct restoration and finish of the upper and lower control arms with the raw metal ends by the ball joints for my Trans Am

This is "Adrian" a 1972, but same paint etc. Originally the paint was a cheap gloss ( 90%) black alkyd enamel, just to keep the rust off. This paint was NOT very durable, and most anything today is far superior.

Certainly can't show up "Adrian", but here's my attempt to match the original finishes I found on this 45K mile Esprit. I cleared the bare metal ends with a polyurethane satin to keep the rust at bay.

Does anyone know where I could my replacement upper ball joints riveted on like they were done at the factory?

I believe you can buy the fake rivets from Ames. Rivet on top, and nut goes on underside.
Problem solved.. and its DIY ! |

Looks good. But processed bare steel is always a lot greyer than sandblasted and stripped steel, or painted to match.

And camera flash makes bare clean bare steel appear to be much brighter and whiter than when seen in person.

Absolutely. Compare the close-up and distant pics with flash.
